Our mission is straight-forward and something we embrace whole heartedly: We are a sanctuary for religious liberals celebrating compassion, diversity and spiritual growth. We are the only UU congregation in the Red River (locally called Texoma) area. Our church is in Denison and we have members who live in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma.

We welcome worshippers of every age, color, sexual orientation, and religious belief or unbelief. While here, you’ll sit next to Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Pagans, atheists, agnostics, and seekers of every variety. (No wonder we adapt our hymns!)

We have only one absolute requirement: We covenant to treat each other with respect. As we call each other to spiritual growth, we also challenge each other to build Beloved Community—not just in our congregations, but also in the wider world. We stand on the side of love: for marriage equality, for immigration reform, for climate justice.

Often guests are curious about our faith – The Uncommon Denomination. We encourage your questions and urge you come and join us any Sunday morning of the year. Our Adult Forum is an open-mind center of thought and conversation which meets Sunday morning from 10 – 11. The topics vary but you can always anticipate a lively conversation.

We gather at 11:15 (and have 15 minutes of silent meditation from 11 – 11:15 for those who enjoy a time of stillness) to celebrate life through singing, readings and a speaker. We’re a lay-led congregation, and not having a resident minister affords us opportunities to invite a wide variety of people to our pulpit.

Our small group ministry we call “Chalice Circles” including “UU Jam” – a musical group that meets monthly; “Moveable Feast – a culinary group that enjoys breaking bread together; “The Green Team” – our environmental action group; “The After Church Lunch Bunch” – an informal get-together of people who head out for a meal after things on some Sundays.

The offering is how we support our programs. As our guests, we do not expect you to contribute this morning. Being with us is a gift and we welcome you.

During the school year we offer a religious education experience for youngsters. We have a nursery which is open every Sunday.
