We ask that everyone wear their yellow shirt or another UU message.
 
New SIDE WITH LOVE shirts will be sold Sundays, Sept 2nd and 9th at First Unitarian, and at the parade on Sept. 16th.

You can also purchase yours online at www.ntuuc.org/tshirts and pick them up at the parade.

Is your Standing on the Side of Love shirt still good?

Of course – the name is being phased out, not thrown out!

 

Festival FAQs:

Where?
Reverchon Park is at 3505 Maple Avenue; we will be at the back near the main stage.

Are Volunteers Needed?
We will have both balloon animals and face-painting at our booth.  Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to volunteer and staff the booth for an hour or two, telling others of our good news.  If we have more than three people at a time, we’ll give some of them promotional materials so they can go work the crowd.  If you sign up early, a green wristband will let you in via the express gate.

Parking?
There is a very small lot at the front of the park; the alternative is street parking.  Taxi/Uber/LYFT might be a good idea, or public transportation.  The #29 bus goes right by the park, while #31 and #39 pass nearby; the Market Center train stop is just over a mile away.

What should I bring?
It could be HOT, so remember your hat, sunscreen, and comfy shoes!  Of course, it might rain.  Unless you have signed up as a booth volunteer and have an green wristband, you will only be able to bring in clear bags – no backpacks or coolers.

Can I bring my kids?
Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult, and those under 13 get in free.  There will be all sorts of attire, so you may find yourself answering difficult questions.  The Family Zone is in the center of the park, with no loud music, alcohol, or inappropriate clothing.

Strollers?
Strollers are allowed, though the exhibits are on the grassy lawn and you will have to maneuver bumpy terrain.

My dog?
Pets are ok except in the food court; remember that the outing could be quite warm and you may want to stay several hours, with lots of people around.

Water?
We will have some water for our volunteers but cannot give out to others – that would be competing with the food court vendors.  You cannot bring in food or drink, so bring money; you’ll probably spend more than you plan.

Money?
Of course – you’ll want souvenirs in addition to food.  Admission is $10 if you do not have a wristband from us.  If you have not connected beforehand, text Daniel at 469.682.8870 so he can come to the gate and give you one.


 
Dallas Parade FAQs:

Getting Ready
Where is the parade?
Staging area is on Wycliff and Douglas, while the parade runs on Cedar Springs Road and ends at the intersection with Turtle Creek Boulevard.

Parking? 
Good Luck.  There will be some private lots, charging $$; street parking fills up quickly, before noon.  We're running shuttle vans for our contingent, so come to First Church and enjoy door-to-door (almost) service.

Where is First Church and how does it work?
Pickup starts around noon, in the drop-off driveway at 5800 Preston, the west side of Channing Hall.  It will drop people off at the staging area on Douglas, and resume pickup at 3108 Carlisle at 4:00 for bringing people back to the church.  

What should I bring?
It could be HOT, so remember your hat/umbrella along with sunscreen, and comfy shoes!  Of course, it could always rain, but the parade will go on.

Can I bring my kids?

Strollers, little red wagons, etc, are fine, and we can usually fit them on the van.  It's a fast-moving parade; we ask you to start out towards the front so you can fall behind and still stay with the contingent.

Water?
We'll have a limited supply during the parade–bring a bottle or two for yourself.


Waiting to Start

We're at someone's front door – remember to keep the noise down and not leave any trash.

Keep the center lane clear for traffic- we could be fined!

What happens while we wait?  

  • It's a good chance to meet people from other UU congregations.
  • You might also take the chance to walk around and look at other groups' floats.
  • The parade starts at 2:00; we'll start moving by 3:00 and reach the end by 4:00.
  • If you are running late, join us on Douglas, until we enter the route on Cedar Springs.

Don't climb the barricades along the route or you could be arrested.

Ignore protesters.  Ignore the protesters.  Ignore any protesters!

Maintain appropriate dress and behavior; you represent our congregations and UUism.

Please wear your shoes - we want you to leave with all your toes still attached, without burnt feet or heatstroke.

Don't walk in front of the vehicles during the parade.

If security officers give you instructions, obey them.

Shuttle vans start picking up at 4:00 at Carlisle and Bowen; they will run until 5.00.
